The Fatima limestone first came to the market as a marginal limestone with limited supply. It was seen as an alternative to the famous Moleanos limestone. After the development of some large quarries, the output increased dramatically and many selections started getting into the market. We take a look at some of the most important selections today available in the market.

Fatima Fine limestone

The Fatima Fine is a very light beige limestone, with quite fine grain structure and uniform background. This is the finest beige limestone in Portugal, which has today huge demand and is used on numerous types of projects such as cladding, masonry and diverse decoration.

Fatima Classic limestone

Medium grain limestone, showing a slightly darker but consistent beige color. The Fatima Classic limestone presents darker brown spots and overall has a medium grain structure. This is a harder type of limestone, used on a diversity of interior and exterior projects.

Fatima Vein-cut limestone

With a vein-cut structure, the Fatima Vein-cut limestone shows a fairly parallel vein structure and a clear beige color. This has become a popular variation of the Fatima limestone, being used mostly on vertical applications such as cladding or wall coverings.

Fatima Beige Hard limestone

Due to its harder and more compact structure, the Fatima Beige Hard limestone is the hardest of them all. It shows a consistent beige color, but its structure is somewhat different from other types of Fatima, beige quite hard. It is ideal for exterior use on paving, flooring.

Fatima Blue Fine limestone

Another hard type of Fatima, the Fatima Blue shows a pale blue/grey color, with very consistent color and regular signs of small shells and inclusions. This type of limestone has been mostly used on exterior cladding, but also diverse interior applications.

Fatima Blue Shelly limestone

Another blue/grey type of Fatima, the Fatima Blue Shelly presents a light blue colored background, but showing a medium grain structure and occasional signs of fossils. This is another type of limestone that can be found on exterior or interior applications.
